Best Places to Sell your Website

November 7th, 2009

Even though we are our own webmaster marketplace, I don’t mind sharing my view on the best places to sell your website. To make things easier I’m going to put it in an numerical ordered list:

  1. Flippa – This is by far the best webmaster marketplace to list your website for sale.  It may cost $19 do put your website up for sale, but it’s well worth it.  You’ll get the most money for your website here without a doubt.  All the features you ever asked for is on the marketplace.  Feedback system, watch option, stats, private messaging etc.  It’s the most active webmaster marketplace to date.
  2. Digital Point Forums – Even though this is a webmaster forum, Digital Point actually has their own marketplace section.  Since Digital Point is the largest webmaster forum to date you’ll have a great opportunity to get a lot of offers.  The offers won’t be as high as Flippa though.  I think a lot of webmasters that are on Digital Point are trying to get a deal, so they want the lowest price possible.
  3. Website for Sale – Well even though we are new, I like to think highly of us.  What’s great about our site is we don’t charge anything to sell your website here.  With our new Flippa button you can actually drive traffic to your Flippa auction.  Our navigation is easy and you’re allowed to post templates and scripts for sale also.  You’re limited at other webaster marketplaces.
  4. Website Broker – The site is number one for the keywords “website for sale” under the Google search engine, but when I listed my site under a category it didn’t get much traffic and I never got any offers.  I think the only way you can succeed in selling your site on this marketplace is listing it under premiere.  The site does get a lot of traffic though, so it’s still in my top five.
  5. Deal a Site – This one is rather new to me.  I don’t know much about it, but I have to say the marketplace looks pretty active, which is very important.  Also on the plus side it has easy navigation and allows you to leave feedback on members.  Another cool feature is the vote system, you’re able to vote for a site which can push more traffic to your site.  It’s kind of weird though, if you want to get a site for cheap why would you want to publicize it more.  More traffic means a higher bid, just a thought.  This would be number four for me, but I never listed a site on here so it stays at number five.

There are many others, but I have to say these are the best places to list a site for sale.  If you want, you can list your best five in the comments section.  Thank you for viewing and good luck on selling your websites!
