Internet turns 40!
November 6th, 2009I’m a little late, the Internet’s birthday was actually on September 2, 1969. This is the date where a group of computer scientists passed data from one computer to another. I’m getting this information from Boing Boing, so don’t flame me if I’m wrong. Boing Boing stated that a lot of people believe that the birthday of the Internet was on the 29th of October, wrong! This is pretty valuable information for me, because not to long ago I was wondering how old the internet was.
I just wish I was smart enough back when I was in high school to purchase a few domains. It’s really not a matter of being smart, just self aware. Plus my best friend Jason said that domains weren’t cheap, he stated I wouldn’t been able to afford them. I didn’t have a full time job back then so he’s basically right.
I wonder about the webmasters who made millions off domains when the internet first started to bloom. Do they still have the money stored up in their bank accounts or did they spend it all? I’m sure some webmasters made more investments. Be honest with you I would of been excited if I made $1k off of a domain. Nowadays companies just use lawyers now to take a domain away from you. It’s sad to hear, but it’s true.
But, what we all are wondering about is what does the future of the internet hold for us. I just read a post on forum that said the internet will run out of domains in two years. It’s sounds like bull, but I don’t know the statistics. If domains are getting bought up that frequently, it sure signifies the value of domains may go up. I’m skeptic though, I went back to look for the post on V7n.com but couldn’t find it. It might be on another webmaster forum, I’m on so many forums nowadays it’s hard to keep track. I guess all we can do is hope for the best!
